How to use WordPress – Easy as 1-2-3Learn more about Bluehost's Solution

Originally I planned to film my own training videos to demonstrate how to use WordPress and get the most out of your experience. However, I discovered these excellent videos on YouTube and decided not to recreate the wheel.  As  you know, I recommend Bluehost to all my clients because of their bulletproof hosting infrastructure, great support and affordable pricing. These videos were created by Bluehost to help their customers learn how to use WordPress.

Tip! At the bottom of each video you will see the 4 arrows on the toolbar. Click button to open the video full screen – much easier to follow.

Changing Themes and Appearance

One of the best features of WordPress is the ability to give your site a complete makeover just by changing the “Theme”. Better still, there are hundreds of free themes available and low cost themes also. The Theme will change the look & feel of your website, fonts, colors, page spacing, columns, etc. BUT…all of your data remains intact. Every page, post, plugin and all uploaded content (images and video) remains, so you never lose anything by changing a Theme.

How to Creating a Static Page

Using WordPress to build a website (vs. a blog) means that you will create pages just as you would in HTML except you don’t need to know anything about HTML or any coding. You will create a page and add content (words, images and video) just as you would do if you were using Microsoft Word.  It’s easy!

How to Use WordPress to Create a Page for Blog Posts

A “post” is the easiest way to add fresh content to your website. The cool thing about a blog is the way it process information in that your newest post is always on top, moving older posts down the page.  You can choose to display 1 post on each page or 10 or more posts per page. If your posts are lengthy (4-5 paragraphs plus photos or videos) you may only want to display 1 post per page.  However, if your posts are typically just updates or short messages, choose to display 4,5 or 10 posts per page.

How to Use WordPress (6 of 7) – Create & Upload a Photo Gallery

This is a very cool feature of WordPress that requires no programming or understanding of HTML, but permits you to create a photo gallery of your products or services.
