Page 1 of Google in Hours
How to rank on page 1 of Google in ‘HOURS’
Create keyword-specific video content
Every business has specific keyword phrases (words) that define their business or the services they provide – and for which people search. As an example, you may be a “emergency plumber in Toledo” and your objective is to rank in search results when someone queries that phrase.
Typically, this is done using onsite search engine optimization (SEO), but for many static websites, it could be months before such work would begin to show results. However, it is possible to jumpstart an SEO campaign and begin seeing results in hours or even in real time utilizing Google’s evolving algorithm.
What do “real time search“, a search engine optimized video and keyword specific content have in common? If done properly it can mean page one search results literally in hours, not days or months. Below is a screenshot showing results for a unique term, “Montana Buffalo in Winter”.
- Video uploaded to YouTube on February 27, 2011 09:08 PM
- 10 hours later (February 28, 2011 08:12 AM), the video had received 20 views (3 viewings were mine)
- Video ranked on page 1 of Google for a specific search term in a matter of hours after it was uploaded to YouTube.

- 1.) The search term “Montana Buffalo in Winter” (no quotes) lists 5,400,000 results – that’s significant competition
- 2.) Video listing result “Montana Buffalo in Winter” shows that it was uploaded to YouTube 10 hours and 57 seconds ago
- 3.) Appearing on page 1 Google search results for a specific keyword phrase

SEO Factors
Optimizing the video during the upload process is the secret sauce of obtaining such results. Titles, Tags and description give Google the ‘WORDS” needed to rank the video for a specific keyword phrase.
- Title of the video (“Montana Buffalo in Winter”) is the phrase I wanted to rank in search results.
- Description: Note that a link to my website is the first information included in the description below the video.
- Tags are keywords pertaining to the content of the video (search terms)
You can see that at the time of this writing, I already had 20 views to this video. So why am I pleased with 20 views? isn’t the objective to score hundreds or thousands of views and go viral?
The quest for quality business leads
If you are that fictional “emergency plumber in Toledo” your goal is not to produce a video that goes viral, you want to reach targeted people who are looking for your specific service. I’ll take one or two qualified prospects over a thousand disinterested drive-by viewers any day of the week.
The SEO Lesson

- Name your video using keywords. As an example… montana_buffalo_in_winter.mpg
- Upload your video to your YouTube channel
- Title your video your keyword phrase
- Add your link to your website first in the description field and then use keyword-rich descriptive text to describe your video, services or products
- Tags are keywords describing your product/service
