How to move your domain to Bluehost

Moving a domain from one hosting company to another is a relatively simple process. You will need to open an account with Bluehost using your existing domain name and upload your website files to the new server.

TIP:  Make sure you have downloaded a copy of your website to your computer.  You will need to upload these files to the new Bluehost server once your account is obtained.

Open your Bluehost account

Click on over to Bluehost and you will see a big green button that says ‘Sign Up Now‘.
Click the button and begin the transfer process.

Bluehost Pricing: Bluehost charges annually, from $4.95 to $6.95 per month depending on the # of years purchased.

The next screen offers two choices:

  1. 1.) Find a new domain name
  2. 2.) I have a domain name (use this to transfer your domain)

 

Enter your domain name in the right hand box and click Next.
The following screen will ask for your billing information and is straightforward.

That’s all there is to it! After you have opened your account, it will be available to you instantly.
Now you can begin creating new pages, transferring files or adding a blog to your new domain.
