How to install your blog

Set-up your blog on Bluehost

Installing a blog with your domain is easy with Bluehost.  To begin, go to Bluehost’s main page and at the top of the page you will see a button, “Control Panel Login“.

On the next screen, you will enter your domain name and the password you chose during the sign-up process.

The first time you access your Control Panel, it may seem overwhelming due to all the tools and features included with your account.  Don’t get intimidated, you will most likely never need to utilize most of these things, but it is nice to know that as your website grows and you require new features they are available – for free.

Install WordPress

Scroll down the page until you see the box labeled Software / Services.  Click the WordPress button as circled in red.

The next screen offers you the option to install a new blog or import your old blog.  For this example, we are going to install a new blog.  NOTE:  There is nothing required of you on this page except to click the ‘Install’ button.

WordPress Installation Options

The next screen offers three options that you need to select prior to finishing the installation (see below).

Step 1:  Choose the default selection.  WordPress provides free updates from time to time and permit users to load a ‘beta‘ version prior to the ‘stable‘ release. Choose the stable version (default).

Step 2:  This is where you choose the location of your blog.  Will it be a separate directory (as shown) or will your website be built using the WordPress platform.

Step 3:  Check the box that says you have read the terms and conditions.  No gotchas here, feel free to review the T&C if you like.

After Installation Completes

After WordPress has been installed, you will see a summary screen displaying your login data. Copy & paste this somewhere for future reference. [example]

Login:  http://www.yourdomain.com/blog/wp-login.php
Username:  admin
Password:  q7dg2s843

SUCCESS!  You are now ready to modify your theme, add plugins, widgets and configure your blog as detailed in the “SEO & Social Media Marketing Guide“.
