About
The Author of the SEO & Social Media Marketing Guide
Since 1993, I have been involved in the commercial sector of the Internet when I co-founded of one of America’s first ISPs in Dallas, TX. Our company, PICnet, was responsible for many Internet ‘firsts’ such as streaming audio, multi-domain hosting, online website creation and wireless email (to PDAs & pagers).
PICnet’s customers included such notables as Frito-Lay, Virgin Records and Texas Rangers MLB, but our primary focus was helping small businesses adapt to online marketing. PICnet was acquired by Netcom in 1995 and as a subsidiary, created the largest hosting company in the world with more than 26,000 domains.
I am also the former President (co-founder) and COO of Opinioneering Corporation, an online opinion aggregation company that was sold in 2001.
My first book, “The Complete Small Business Internet Guide” (published by Macmillan/QUE), was one of the first Internet business books (see TV interview below).
Since 1996 I have been the principal consultant ofThe Webunet Group which I co-founded. Prior to Internet, I spent 13 years with NEC America where I served the last five years as Vice President of Wireless Products Sales.
I attended College of the Albemarle in North Carolina after receiving an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy. My military service included one tour in Vietnam.

When the public Internet was in its infancy, we released a video series entitled “Secrets of the Internet”. This was an instructional video series showing people how to create a basic website and use the software programs that were necessary at that time.
Unlike today’s WYSIWYG website editors with automatic publishing, back then you needed a number of stand-along programs to produce and upload a website. Marketing a website was much easier; competition was sparse and all one needed to do was submit to a couple search engines and traffic appeared as if by magic.
My wife Lori and I are parents to three daughters and live in Kalispell, Montana in the shadow of Glacier National Park. We share our cabin in the woods with three cats and one Great Pyrenees pup.
